P1's Hunting
1st Prairie Dog Hunt
Fellow P1’s, Friends, Family, and yes… even you people who do not know or like me…. Today is a GREAT DAY!!!!
I will be posting more info here as I prepare for this outing. There is a ton of things to get ready, and I only have 2 weeks to get everything done. Got back the other day and we had a GREAT TIME. We did get rained out 1 day, but the weather the other days made up for that. It never got over 90, and the sun was bright 2 of the 4 days. I was 178 out of 355 shots, and dad was 186 out of 397 shots. Shots ranged from 75 yards to right at 450. I think dad had some a bit farther, but my longest shot of the week was at 434, and it happened to be my first and only triple (it really was a fluke). I shot about 2.5 hours of video, and my good friend "Black Sabot" is doing the editing on it now. Hopefully I will have some good vid's to post. Right now all I have is my shooting set up. This was taken on day 4 with the camera from my phone. I brought my pop up canopy so I could shoot all day without getting killed by the sun. You had to tie them down real well or the wind would blow them across the pasture (ask my dad how we know this).

Well, today I tried to figure out how in the world I was going to be able to shoot for all 4 days, and it became very clear that another 750 rounds of ammo would need to be loaded. I ordered 500 more rounds of 204 brass and bullets. This will give me about 1000 rounds of 204 for those shots inside 400 yards. My CZ 204 shoots the 32 grain v-max at 3989 fps. My Remington .204 VLS shoots the 39 grain Sierra BK at 3800 fps. I've been told those two bullets can take care of business for sure. My Remington 204 even harvested its first deer this year too. It shoots very nice.
For those shots out past 400 yards, you need a little bit more bullet. That’s why I'll be bringing my new 6br. This gun has a .269 neck, so there is brass prep work that needs to be done in order for the round to chamber. You have to turn the neck of the cases down to .0120. This not only allows them to fit, but it also ensures that the necks are concentric and the tension on the bullet is equal in 360 degrees. So, today I sat down all day and turned necks on Lapua 6mmBR brass so they will fit the new 6br. I got a little over 50 done today, and I have another 200 or so to do. I called my good friend "PREACHER" and he gave me some tips on how to do them faster with a cordless screwdriver. This should get me rolling a bit quicker. This will give me about 350 6br to shoot at those distances of 350+ yards. My current load is with 107 grain bullets, but I am going to test the 87 grain v-maxs this weekend to see what load will work best in my gun. This should give me a much better "splat factor" when shooting.
Here is a pic of my new 6br.

My dad will be taking his new Kreiger made .260

I have not really had the proper amount of time to prepair for this trip that I should. I spent a lot of time this weekend chasing down brass, bullets, cleaning rods, and of course powder. Thank goodness I had all the primers stored up, cause NO ONE has primers right now. Thats a whole nuther topic that I will not get into today.

Well, today I was loading all day. Since my dad is going with me, we have a ton of rounds to load. I loaded 500 rounds of .204 today, and 125 for my 6BR. As soon as I get the expander in the mail so I can use the K&M neck tuner, I'll have another 250 to prep for the 6BR. This will give us about 2500 rounds to take between the 2 of us.
Dad is taking his 17 Fireball (350 rounds), my CZ 204 (350 rounds), and the .260 Remington (550 rounds). I'm taking my Remington 6BR (375 rounds) and my Remington .204 (800 rounds).

Here is a short video clip that my buddy at SABOT put together for me. I will have a full DVD in a few weeks, but he has been working on this for me to post on the web site first.
Here is a little clip he put together for some fun.
