P1's Hunting

and all that implies

P1's Love To Shoot Too

My newest build is a 6br on a trued Remington action.

Rem 700 trued action
28" 1.250 straight PacNor barrel 1:8 with Harrell’s muzzle break
Bolt bushed and pin turned by Gre-Tan
McMillan A-3 stock
Badger 20 MOA base
Jewel trigger
NF rings
Sightron S3 8-32x56

So far the gun shoots pretty good with a few different bullets. Here are 3 targets with Berger 95 VLD's. All groups are 5 shot groups at 100 yards.

Here is a 10 shot target with 107 SMK's at 100 yards.

And here is a 10 shot group at 500 yards with Berger 105 VLD's.

The next thing I needed to build was a portable shooting bench. I took the center pivot point style instead of the legged version of a shooting bench. This will allow me to take this same footprint, and place a pivoting table top with chair to take on a prairie dog shoot. I took a 2" round pipe as my main post. I then took 1 3/4" square tubing, cut the end at 7 degree angle, and welded that onto the 2" round post. This allows the 2" square tubing to slide on the 1 3/4" stems to be used as stablizing feet.  When bolted all down snug, the table is pretty stable. Some tweaking needs to be done, however, I was able to shoot at 500 yards, with some what accuracy.

And here is a bad target
My next favorite gun to shoot has to be my good old Ruger 10/22. Everyone loves plinking with these guns. This gun too has been customized. I took the Stainless Ruger 10/22 and redid everything. I replaced the stock with a Fajen Silhouette Thumbhole laminate, and the barrel with an Adam's and Bennett 16" fluted stainless match grade barrel. They both are pretty much drop in, so the work needed to get these to shoot was very minimal. I had a gunsmith polish the ramp, and skide. I installed a yellow jacket bolt buffer, and a Volquartsen trigger assembly. Since the kids shoot this gun a lot, I set the trigger at 2.7 pounds. This little gun shoots so fine. I placed a Simmons Whitetail 6.5-20x50mm scope on it with Leupold mounts and rings (bought from SWFA of course). It shoots .45" 10 shot groups at 50 yards all day long. The target below was shot at 50 yards. I was shooting CCI minimag 36 grain hollow point ammo. It shoots at 1255 fps. The dots are .75" circles.
